I've never met a SMT holder glueing is simplier than trying to use a holder. That holder must be glued or soldered manually I supose. And a hot glue is quite easy for unmounting.
C once again becouse:
- it's universal 40 ore more platforms that can manage with C applications
- open source tools like DevCpp
- it's easier to migrate to C++ and them maby study writing in .NET
- most producers gives C examples for microcontrollers

Swiching with zero is a good idea for heavy loads when high current can burn your fuse, and cause voltage drop.

There are better programs for simulating circuts than Matlab, for electric and electronic circuts use Mulitsim ore one of S.P.I.C.E. programs. Matlab is for scientists.
It's hard to construct an oscilloscope thru RS ore USB with a proper band. I think better would be a universal card ex. Eagle PCI 703/16A that runs on HP VEE software, or something similar.
