how to improve the coupling coefficient of on-chip CMOS transformer

HI all I built a transformer made by two spiral inductor in ADS Momentum and simulate the coupling coefficient of the transformer . Its K is only around 0.4 at in 5GHz. I tried different layout method such as symmetric and stacked layout . I also increased the size the two spiral inductor , my...

Why thick metal can increase Q of inductor?

Thanks a lot . I understand that R= ρ*L/S S is the cross section area It seems that the resistance can be reduced by increase area , right? But when frequency goes high , due to skin effect, the current is mainly on the surface, am I right? so still this thicker metal can increase the Q?

Why thick metal can increase Q of inductor?

In CMOS design, designer often use thick metal layers to design inductor to obtain high Q ? due to the resistance is smaller? Thanks .

The max gain of a diff amp under certain tail current?

I want to design a two stage Op amp . There is some trade of for the gm of the first stage , you want high gm1 but gm1 can not be too high . I did some homework for 0.35um CMOS tech with certain spec , now I want to re do it in 0.18um CMOS tech , but I don't have any spec . So I think I can...

how to calculate inductance in Cadence Calculator

I have the same problem . I do the one port SP analysis . Z11 = R+jωL I can plot the "jwl" but I don't know how to plot L ? I noticed there is another post asking about the independ variable "freq" in 2007 but no one answers that . It says "unbound variable " So the question is still how...
