Hi All,
When I started my PCB Design, I used a larger template (A1) to arrange components outside the board initially.
However now that all components are within the board, there is too much space outside.
I don't want to generate a large gerber file with just a small PCB board in the middle...
Dear Marce,
Well, it is the default setting for planes in Altium.
(Note:- I'm not too familiar with using this software)
Is there a way to set a plane layer in Altium to be positive?
I could change the layer to a signal layer and place shapes, but I'm not sure if it the correct way to do this...
Dear Khanna_Gunjan,
Yes, that is one possible solution which I will use if no other method available.
Does anyone know how to short pins on negative layers in Altium Designer?
Thanks,
Newbie101
Hi All,
I'm currently evaluating Altium 10 on a small project.
I want to intentionally connect a one pin from a connector to an internal DGND plane (negative plane).
However this pins is from a different net.
I cant add the "short circuit" rule to this net since I only want it to short to...
Dear Marce & FvM,
Thanks again for all the help.
I'm going for the series termination with separate traces. Will try to run some simulation to confirm resistor value.
Hope there will be enough space on PCB to add the extra resistors.
Best Regards,

Dear Marce & FvM,
Thanks so much for help.
Both receivers are quite far apart.
If routed in parallel, the trace length is around 5000mils from driver to each receiver.
If routed daisy-chained, trace length to first receiver would be 5000mils and to next receiver 7000mils.
Given these trace...
Dear Marce & FVM,
Thank you for all the help so far.
Details on my circuit:-
The driver is one of the output pins for 74ACT244 Octal Buffer/Line Driver.
Both the input pins are from the control pins (A, B & C) of the MAX4617.
Attached datasheets.
Please advice on how should the trace be...
Please give me one or two good solutions. Thanks!

How to reduce the source impedance? Thanks!
Hi All,
One of my I/O output pin is to be connected to two input pins (on different ICs).
Rather than routing daisy-chained from
Driver --> Receiver1 --> Receiver2 -> Termination
I would like to route two separate traces from driver
|----------> Receiver1 --> Termination
Driver...
Hi All,
If an IC I/O pin is driving its max rated current IOH(MAX), what will the output voltage be?
Will it be at its rated minimum voltage VOH(MIN)?
Thanks,

Hi All,
Thanks for replies.
I have one constant current source which I want to be able to switch to one of 32 different paths.
Using 32 mechanical relays would take up lots of space.
SSRs are smaller but I need the current value to be constant after passing through the relay.

Hi All,
I'm planning on switching a constant current (around 3mA) through a solid state relay.
May I know if this is possible? Will the current remain constant after going through the relay or will the value change? Also please advice on the best type of SSR for this purpose.
Thanks All
Thanks FvM.
However, isn't termination supposed to be placed at end of the line? (i.e. end of signal path)
Thus for TxN & TxP the termination resistors are placed near the transformer??
Hi All,
May I know where should I put the: -
a) Transmit Termination Resistors
b) Receive Termination Resistor
Nearer to PHY or to Transformer?
Thanks,
Newbie 101
