    What is meant Convergence Problem

I assume, that you work with a simulator that uses the finite element method (for example hfss). Convergence means: One of the points of the finite elemnt method is, that you never get any absolute correct values as a result. The calculation is based on differential equations solved in a small...

    HFSS internal mesh too large

Hi We did a work about mesh ops and refining. See pdf. It's written in german though but it has lots of pics. Just ask if necessary. D. PS: check: **broken link removed**

Simulation and modelling of koaxial structures

that's exactly what we did. there are 2 possibilities: a) use the field calculator to calulate the Energy in the E-Field and therafter calculate the Capacitance. (shown in the cookbook) b) export the s-parameters. import them in a sim. like ansoft designer or micro wave office by AWR (we used...

Need coaxial cable design for HFSS simulation

coaxial cable hfss We ran a complete set of test on HFSS. check the zipped pdf. It's written in german though. Just ask if you have questions. Hope it helps. D.

    HFSS Field Calculation

Should be no Problem using the Field Calculator. However it's quite confusing to use at the beginning. Send your Email adr. to me an i'll send you the "Field Calc" Cookbook. D.

S parameters in CST MWS or HFSS

cst s parameter HFSS calculates the fields using the finite element method. it automatically calculates the impedance of the modelled structure at the points where the ports are placed. s-parameters are then normalized to that impedance per default. if you manually change the port impedances...

    spiral inductor simulation program

i'd use HFSS by Ansoft. it has a spiral wizard which make modelling quite easy. or you can use its scripting language to model your spiral using parameters. if you understand mesh operations you get very good results in a reasonable amount of time. D.

Help me with finline structure stimulation in HFSS

Re: Help on HFSS stimulation it is possible to specify any port impedance for a port. hfss calculates the fields regardless of the specified port impedance. of course, if the port impedance doesn't match the line impedance you will have a lot of reflections. if you plot or export s-parameters...

    I want to simulate a structure 2D

We just finished a work simulating 2D structures (Tapered lines) that had curved outlines. We discovered that hfss's results were very good compared to simulation time used. We also tried EMSight (Microwave Office). This tool was NOT better NOR faster than HFSS!!! This was because it is based on...

[SOLVED] Tutorial on method of moment for electromagnetic analysis

method of moment MoM = mother of all Methods... :-) serious now: as I understand it the MoM is a 2D or quasi 2D (2.5D) method. One devides a structure into finite elements, rectangles in some cases. The method then calculates the current distribution in such a way, that the tangential part of...

how to do deembedding in hfss?

deembedding in hfss you can simply define deembedding in the port preferences. Warning: the deembedding hfss uses is simply a subtraction of a line. In mathematical terms only a rotation of the reflection coefficient! (in a lossless case). Do not deembed over discontinuities. D.

Help me with finline structure stimulation in HFSS

Re: Help on HFSS stimulation The port impedances have no influence on your calculation. However, the result does of course. So if you want to view results or export for example the s-parameters you can define any port impedance you want. That is called "renormalisation". hope it helps. D.

How to use results of HFSS in Matlab ?

export data hfss yep. that works. i wrote a little m-file to convert the columns of the *.sNp to a row-vektor. use it if you want.

How to assign a face of an object to ground in HFSS?

hfss wave port reference conductor Perfect E means simply that the E-Field is normal to the surface -> it simulates a perfect conductor. To assign a surface to gnd you have to use for example a lumped port and connect the line (you will be asked for) from the conductor to gnd. If you use wave...
