There is substantial interest in the 60 GHz band for broadband digital links to solve the first/last mile problem. In the US, the FCC has opened up some spectrum at 60 GHz for unlicensed radio. There is a working group also looking at w-band around 90 GHz
for the same type applications.

Search for 8970B and you will find a lot of used ones for sale. I just bought one for $4600. including instrument cal but not a noise source. Noise source depends on your application of course, but are about $500 new.
Re: N5250A
Anritsu also makes an NA that covers up to 110 GHz for about 20% less money. Note that both the Anristsu and HP N5250A are not power levelled like the soon to be discontinued 8510XF. I am seriously considering getting the XF because of that. One problem that I have seen from all...

You can get an HP 8970B for under $5k these days. If that is too much, then try measuring change in amplified noise from a 50ohm load at room temp and when dipped in LN2. Then use the noise formulas to get NF and gain.
Symbolically defined devices (SDD) components in ADS make it very versatile for creating your own non-linear device models. If you get off the usual types of circuits that use pre-canned components, ADS has distinct advantages. Plus, ADS can be coupled to ICCAP to allow your models to be...
Momentum does not accurately handle conductor thickness. This can
affect accuracy on edge coupled structures like Lange couplers. Your best bet is HFSS if you know your conductor thickness accurately.

Anyone have any experience with automobile OBD-II scan
software and hardware? There seem to be a number of vendors selling similar stuff. Some is clearly profe$$ional, but other like **broken link removed** appear geared to DIYs with interface kits and lots of references to...
I suggest for your application using Momentum to simulate the
actual capacitor geometry you are using. You can import your gdsII file directly into the ADS layout to do this. If you define your silicon substrate losses correctly and also the process layers then you will get a very accurate...
I need to design an ultra cheap narrow beam antenna for an industrial application. My current design uses a tapered slot antenna feeding a plastic lens, but the cost of the lens in teflon is way too high for the expected application. Anyone know of a cheap plastic that has reasonable loss at...
What do you mean "iccap station"? ICCAP is a software program from Agilent (and EEsof before they got bought) that is optimized for model parameter extraction and instrument control?
