I suspect that IC 6.1 and IC610 are referring to the same software. 'virtuoso' is the name of the executable that will start the 'Command Interface Window' (CIW). From the CIW you can create schematics and layouts.

I have seen Assura have segmentation faults (crash) or lock up with larger designs. Calibre would run on the same designs with no issue. The syntax for the calibre rule decks is also easier to learn - at least it was for me.
