Hello everyone,
I wish to know the dependence of receiver sensitivity over analogue modulation techniques(AM or FM). As per my knowledge If we know the NF of the receiver, desired output SNR and bandwidth of the receiver, we can easily calculate the sensitivity of the receiver at input. My...
Hello everyone,
The white noise generated by passive devices in terms of phase noise is given as: -174+NF(dB)-Pout(dB). In case of frequency doubler or tripler, the phase noise is increased as: 20log(n) where n is multiplication factor.
Lets say I am using some nonlinear device(diode) for...
RBW is 300Hz used for this measurement. May be the noise level is limited by spectrum own noise level. This will confirm, If I somehow raise the noise floor of spectrum
Thanks for the reply. When I varied input signal from-70dbu to 100dbu, the output power level and noise level is also varied accordingly(means output SNR varied) and this was shown on spectrum. However near saturation and beyond saturation level the output power level and noise level remain...
Hello everyone,
I am analyzing that how the NF of LNA affects, when LNA is operated in saturation region. According to theory, NF should degrade. But in practice, when I measured LNA's NF by using spectrum analyzer, the SNR(out) remained at same level. Experts please throw some light on this...
Hello everyone,
Practically, How can I find the noise figure of LNA by using spectrum analyzer for two cases: When operated in linear region and when operated in saturation region. I also want to check how the noise floor will affect? Thanks
Another observation: When I directly connected my oscillator(100 MHz) to spectrum analyzer, it gave me the noise level of -95dbm and signal power of 8dbm. Then I connected my diode multiplier, bandpass filter and amplifier, it again gave me the same noise level of -95dbm and signal power of 8dbm...
what type of alterations should i adopt to improve the noise floor of my system? Conversion loss of multiplier is equivalent to noise figure of multiplier, so if I improve the conversion loss,it will improve noise floor of the system? However in this case the phase noise will remain at same...
Hello everyone,
I am working on a system which has following configuration:
Attenuator(7dB),Amplifier(17dB),Attenuator(9dB),frequency multiplier(18dB loss),Bandpass filter(3dB loss),Amplifier(26dB)
This system works as X3 frequency multiplier(100 MHz to 300 MHz). I am bound to use the initial...
This is indeed a good option. Would you recommend me some starting point? So far I know that non-linearity of transistors can be used to generate harmonics. But How??
According to the Application note 1054 of HSMP-3822 by agilent, it works at +13dBm. Moreover SRD's unike varactors don't require Idlers. Yes this is true that they are not very efficient frequency multipliers. So far I am trying to find the input impedance by using VNA. Hopefully it will work!!
VNA has a power range from 0dbm to 10dbm. I set the power level of 9dbm. This multplier diode dont need seperate dc biasing. The purpose of all this exercise is to match the input port of multiplier diode. Am I doing right so far??
