Supprise that so far nobody recommend Jean Gareau 's book. I have books from Jack Ganssle and Michael Barr. They are good. But if you want to go beyond driver, IRQ, flash file system, etc., to the next level, you have to have a good understanding of RTOS. uCos-II from Jean Gareau is for sure one...
