How to use IC DRIVER HI/LO SIDE HV L6387E

I think the top source and bottom drain are supposed to be connected. That's the point -- at least for this application and some others. You either pull your load up to HV or down to ground and only one transistor is on at once. Vboot is rated up to 618V, so OUT is rated to 600V. I thought of...

How to use IC DRIVER HI/LO SIDE HV L6387E

I'm trying to use this high voltage half bridge mosfet driver (L6387E). I've attached a file that shows how I have connected the circuit. I'm just trying to drive two stacked nmos with a small capacitor connected between so I can charge it to my high voltage and discharge it very quickly. My...

    Avalanche mode pulser

I didn't think Avalanche would be an option for anything other than short pulses. As for my switch, I want it to be as fast as possible, but cheap. What is transformer gate control?

    Avalanche mode pulser

Could I use avalanche mode for high voltage switching rather than pulsing? I want a solid state switch to switch about 1kV as fast as possible. I see that some solid state relays have load current rise times of about 100us. I want the rise time to be closer to 1us or less.

High Voltage and Physical Contact Switching

I see, you're only talking about opening a switch. Now I understand that a cap across the switch would work. I don't think it works for closing the switch -- that's was I was thinking about. You were right to think about the opening because that's when the non-extinguishing arc could occur...

High Voltage and Physical Contact Switching

Yes, that is an interesting idea. Although, I'm not sure how or if the cap would eliminated a possible arc. There is still the same voltage between the contacts, right? I went ahead and tried my idea today. I used a TQ2-4.5 relay and a 100pF. The relay is rated at 2A, 32V. The cap was a regular...

High Voltage and Physical Contact Switching

I see -- the non-extinguishing arc. I think my arc will quickly extinguish, because there will be a capacitor between the high voltage and ground. As you know, capacitors are open circuits in DC.

High Voltage and Physical Contact Switching

Thanks for the suggestions. Why is the unavoidable arcing bad? Maybe it could weld the contacts together?

High Voltage and Physical Contact Switching

Is there a problem with using a contact switch, such as a relay, to apply and remove high voltage? Maybe there is some destructive arcing? At what voltage is relay switching not a good idea? I haven't installed a house wall switch, but I believe those are directly switching the 120V. I want to...

    High Voltage Switch across Capacitor

Would Vcc be my 500 volt supply? Is the optocoupler just for isolation safety?

    High Voltage Switch across Capacitor

Thank you for suggesting that device. I'm still an undergraduate in EE. Can you point me a to good deflection circuit that would make use of such a transistor? The university doesn't teach BJT's in circuits classes anymore.

    High Voltage Switch across Capacitor

Does anyone know how to switch a high voltage across a capacitor extremely fast? Given: 500V DC Supply 90pF Capacitor (custom) Problem: Switch polarity of voltage across cap, activated by digital input. The switch should be complete in about 2us. It can switch back and forth, controlled by...

High Voltage High Speed Switching Power Supply needed

high voltage switching power supply I am in need of an ultra high speed switching high voltage supply. 5kV is good and 10kV is better. 0 to full-voltage is okay, but -5kV to +5kV is better. All I need is a square wave with adjustable frequency. All I care about is how fast it can switch and how...

OpAmp Integrator with fast current pulse input

fast integrator Ok, I have a new design I'm going with, but I think I need a 1nF low-esl capacitor for the current pulse. Where can I buy that? I looked in Digikey and Mouser. Digikey doesn't have any in stock and they require a purchase of 100-400.

OpAmp Integrator with fast current pulse input

integrator operational amplifier input current A transistor's gate oxide layer is going to have an ion beam incident upon it, which will produce the current pulse. I want to know the charge from the current. We need to maintain an acurate charge representing voltage for about 1 microsecond or...
