I was studying in Lee book on Rf microelectronics that it's possible to increase Quality factor using active deice. You know how it's possible? I am not sure if it's the same thing as restoring the energy dissipated by an RLC tank.
Hi,
I have a setup for measuring the EVM for 3GPP WCDMA data, as shown below
The question is I want to replace the test signal from a signal obtained in virtuoso (let's say I have the .csv file for the signal). Could you please tell me how to import that and make it work on ADS?
Thanks!
Is it also possible to have a look up table on ADS?
I would like to have an one to one mapping between the output and input. I have the look up table. How would you implement that on ADS?
Hi,
I have designed a Power Amplifier and have obtained AM-AM and AM-PM plots. I would like to include the S21 parameter file (which has both am-am and am-pm) and run some simulations on the link level where I can give WCDMA signal patterns etc. Do you know how to do that? I am new to ADS so I...
Hi! I am designing an LC VCO and would want to design output buffers for driving the output for testing. What's the general architecture for the output buffers? Can it be differential? I have seen some architectures where they use class A amplifier but I would like to know what is used...
Pnoise is giving me a wrong result
I am running pnoise for a VCO that I built for 3 different values of resistors. Those resistors are placed after an ideal vcvs so that changing that value shouldn't change anything; bottom line is that I am not expecting to see any change in the pnoise results...
Hi,
I am trying to do something new to an existing VCO architecture and I found an improvement in the phase noise. Though I am not able to mathematically (I am able it only intuitively) explain the improvement at this point in time, I would like to know if PSS results are accurate enough. The...
Hi,
I am running a PSS simulation for an oscillator that gives differential output. I would like to know what I should specify in that case in the oscillation reference node?
Is it okay if I mention the positive output node (voutp) in the oscillaton node box and negative output node (voutm)...
Hi,
Is there a block in virtuoso where I can input the time domain impulse to get the required characteristics? The reason why I am asking is because I am trying to model an optical channel which has a gaussian impulse response and modeling the transfer function using svcvs is a bit tedious. I...
I have a basic question regarding optical interconnects. Like electrical serial links, do we need to have termination resistors like 50 ohms for optical interconnects assuming that the electrical-optical conversion (and vice-versa) blocks are placed near the chip without any long electrical links?
Actually I figured out one way. Under Simulations->Options->Analog, you can actually select the transistors whose noise sources have to be disabled. But then i am not able to choose a specific noise source like flicker or something like that. I can view the noise summary but I want to see the...
Hi,
I am running pnoise for a VCO that I have designed for checking the phase noise. I would like to disable the some particular noise sources (like flicker, thermal etc) of some specific transistors to see the improvement in the phase noise after disabling. Do you know if there is a way to do...
I have attached the spectre.out file.
I intentionally ran it for a tstab of 100 us.

Hi,
I am trying to understand Spectre RF(PSS/PAC/PNOISE etc.). I would like to know if there is any good tutorial for that. I have some, but I haven't understood completely yet.
Thanks!
