    Brushless rotor position estimation

Yes, I understand this is an age of an intellectual property and a very few are really willing to share their information. I am preparing for an interview for which I am asked to study in detail the various ways to control BLDC motor. I have been reading a book titled "Permanent Magnet Brushless...

    Brushless rotor position estimation

Thanks again for your quick response. I also think that measuring the stator phase voltage and inferring the flux from this can give way the rotor position. However, I don't know if this is the ONLY way to use the above given equation. I have not been able to find much detail regarding this...

    Brushless rotor position estimation

Thanks for your replies. I am not having any scopes but I do know the waveform generated when the motor is hand cranked. The question is what is being measured? Is it the flux? Or the flux is being inferred from some other electrical measurement? I don't understand if the goal is to calculate...

    Brushless rotor position estimation

How to estimate rotor position of brushless dc motor having trapezoidal shaped air gap flux distribution using flux-linkage based technique? The commonly used equation given in books and other technical resources to estimate the flux is given as Ψ = Ψp + Ψpm = ∫(U - Ri)dt , where Ψ denotes total...

    coil inductance variation

Thanks all for your replies. I don't know how to respond. I have been trying to understand the working of sensorless brushless dc motor. For now, I am reading up on position estimation and starting methods of these sensorless dc motors. Here is the resource link: I just want to understand how...

    coil inductance variation

Here are two different arrangements with the corresponding inductance variation plot: But I am not able to understand it completely.

    coil inductance variation

When a current carrying iron cored coil is brought near to a pole of a permanent magnet, how will the permanent magnet affect the inductance of the coil? Will the coil inductance increase/decrease in different arrangements like, south pole of coil with north pole of permanent magnet and south...

    Capacitor charging using stepper motor

Thanks again for your reply. Actually I read the following somewhere in this thread: That's why I connected this large 22 kohm resistor instead of 10 mF capacitor to find out the max voltage the capacitor can reach. Thanks.

    Capacitor charging using stepper motor

Sorry for delay in getting back. Was quite busy with some other urgent work. I have completely dropped the idea of using voltage multiplier and instead have thought of using transformer. I had a 230 VAC / 12 V 200 mA adapter. Took out the transformer and connected the secondary coil to the...

    Capacitor charging using stepper motor

I think there is some misunderstanding here. The output frequency of stepper motor is 200 Hz because there are 200 steps (one revolution or one full cycle) in the motor. What I am saying is that I am rotating it 4 times a second, the output cycles 800 times a second. Does it make sense now...

    Capacitor charging using stepper motor

I think the frequency is not 200 Hz. Here is why. The motor is being rotated four times (not a 4 step sequence as assumed by you) a second. Since the stepper has 200 steps so it comes out to be 200 steps * 4 rotations in a second = 800 cycles a second. I hope I am not missing something here.

    Capacitor charging using stepper motor

I only know the coil resistance and nothing else about the motor How to find the max current produced by motor?

    Capacitor charging using stepper motor

I was not able to charge the 10 mF cap with 10 nF and 1n4007, but could only reach to 500 mV in 30 sec. What I am asking is if I can use 10 uF cap instead of 10 nF? Thanks.

    Capacitor charging using stepper motor

After days of trying to choose between different ways, I chose to go with the CW multiplier. Tried to charge for more than 30 sec with 1n4007 and 10 nF cap system, the 10 mF cap got charged to only 500 mV. I think I have got wrong value capacitors. Here, I tried to simulate with 7 VA 800Hz...
