Lead Acid Battery Voltage/ Current ripple?

Hello again. Yes FvM, I wrote before that there are huge caps in the output of the AC/DC converter. The problem I am having is modeling the Lead Acid battery based on its datasheet, so that I can complete my filter calculations. But from what everyone says, I shouldn't really worry a lot about...

Lead Acid Battery Voltage/ Current ripple?

Hello again What I am talking about is low frequency ripple (150Hz). I believe it will be seen by the battery. To treez: If I have a voltage ripple, I should get a current ripple and vice versa. Am I wrong? So I'm talking about ripple (both of them because they are related) To dick_freebird...

Lead Acid Battery Voltage/ Current ripple?

To betwixt: I believe that what you wrote isn't a 100% right. I found already a model of a Lead Acid Battery somewhere else, but the capacitor is just a small part of it. The battery is mainly a Back EMF and some resistors and a capacitor. The ripple causes additional heat in the battery. To...

Lead Acid Battery Voltage/ Current ripple?

Hello everyone! I want to charge a Lead Acid Battery using an AC to DC converter. I know the voltage ripple in the output AC/DC converter, but then I want to connect this converter to charge a battery using an inductor in order to filter even more. The problem is that I can't calculate the...

[SOLVED] Max DC current for chokes

Thanks a lot Mr FvM I asked this question because my peak current can reach something like 300Amp, and this is not a small ripple. I will ask inductor companies for these curves and hope to get them :-D. Again, thanks a lot for your help. Much appreciated

[SOLVED] Max DC current for chokes

Hello. I didn't get any update about the subject. Do I have to choose an inductor using the DC current, the rms and the max? The saturation current should be equal to the max current. Am I right?

[SOLVED] Max DC current for chokes

Hello Thanks for answering this fast. The DC choke I'm looking for is around 200Amp and 0.5mH (more is better). The signal I should be using is a rectified signal having an average value of 200Amp I shouldn't worry about skin effect since I have low frequency harmonics So high inductance is...

[SOLVED] Max DC current for chokes

Hello everyone! I'm having trouble finding high current and high inductance DC chokes. This is why I'm asking you this question about the max DC current for a choke. If a choke can handle 200Amp DC current, does that mean that it can handle any waveform as long as it has an average value of...

Oscilloscope noise. mV without any input signal ?!

Hello again. When I remove it, it gets a bit better 1.10mV instead of 11.3 mV. The probe I'm using is a 10X one, that means that the oscilloscope can go to 10mV/div. But without it, it can go to 1mV/div, and this makes the noise even lower (something like 680µV).

Oscilloscope noise. mV without any input signal ?!

Hello everyone! I'm having a trouble with a Tektronix TDS 3045B oscilloscope. Here is a screenshot of a signal where I connected the probe pin with its ground. I can't understand where did that voltage come from. I need this measure to be very precise because I want to detect 4.88 mV signals...

[SOLVED] Voltage reference problem. Power converter Vs Microcontroller

Hello. I found the solution to the problem. I was using the Power supply Metrix AX503 for something else simultanuously (other than powering the PIC). When I disconnected it that "something else", the PIC seems to be working well with the (-) and Vss connected together. But I still can't...

[SOLVED] Voltage reference problem. Power converter Vs Microcontroller

Do you mean that there is a problem with the Metrix AX503 ? How can I filter my signal/ supply Vdd ? Are there any recommended values for capacitors ? Are there some other practical solution? Please let me know Thanks

[SOLVED] Voltage reference problem. Power converter Vs Microcontroller

Well, it's a three phase Dd0 transformer, SCR half controlled rectifier, LCLC filter then the load. The power supply I'm using for the PIC is a Metrix AX503. PS: I did the test again and I'm getting weird signals now  Do you have an Ebook for tips in electronics in practice? Thanks

[SOLVED] Voltage reference problem. Power converter Vs Microcontroller

I did it with a 150 Ohm resistor. I got 1.0V I'm sorry to say this, but what was the point behind this test? Thanks

[SOLVED] Voltage reference problem. Power converter Vs Microcontroller

The output is good. 48Vdc with a small ripple ~200mV The resistor values are 140kOhm (up) and 9.4kOhm
