it is not suitable for hardware design using tools for matlab to vhdl.
although there is some tools to do it.
hardware design is completely different from arithmetic research.

if you can got the ipcore of fir then you can set the coefficents to what you got from matlab,which you should quantized to fixed point numbers. then every thing is ok!
if not you should do yourelf!
