dsPIC CTMU does not give sensible readings

Can someone help me solve the following please: I'm trying to measure the time between the rising edges on two equal frequency, slow (~2Hz), almost in phase square waves. They are within about 500nS but can go down to almost 0ns. One has a random jitter of +/-25ns, the other <<1ns and signal 1...

Is it really "heating" used for beam scanning in Echodyne's radar?

Yes, it really uses heating to shape the beam, replacing a phased array method. More information here: https://spectrum.ieee.org/automaton/robotics/drones/metamaterial-radar-is-exactly-what-delivery-drones-need

No commercial 10MHz-50MHz antenna ? How to build?

I thought not ;-) The dimensions are for you to enter...

Did you press the "Calculate" button on that online Horn Antenna Calculator?

    Serial RS232 Seat Power

I can't be much help, but I doubt the 9-pin connector is RS232 serial. The patent describes using an Arcnet LAN for communication with the central computer. No mention is made of RS232 as an external interface. Arcnet is a token-passing bus network and not something you can just plug into a PC...

    I cant power an amplifier

Have you checked the cell manufacturer's recommendations for parallel connection? Some cells are better made (closer tolerances and more stable) than others, and that impacts parallel connection. Should be OK if they are a major brand and from the same batch, I guess. Really, without detailed...

    I cant power an amplifier

Does your amplifier give full output down to 10V? If so, why do you need a dc-dc booster? are you connecting the cells in series (I hope so) or parallel? Li-ion cells should not be discharged below around 3V or they suffer damage. So, even discharged this low they will still be providing 12V...

Rubbery "Goo" needed to stop capacitors vibrating against PCB

I've often heard that while hot melt glue is fine for temporary mechanical bonding during manufacture, it's not good for long term use. It can become brittle after a few years, can soften if something gets hot (and the repeated cycling can cause creep and bond failure) and does not necessarily...

Best and highest capacity AA NiMh cell?

I've used AA cells for years in high power flashlights for caving and other outdoors pursuits, also in GPS units etc. I tend to also have kit that sits for long periods of time unused, but when I need it, I need it now! The best rechargeable AAs I've ever found are Eneloops. I don't know if...

Rubbery "Goo" needed to stop capacitors vibrating against PCB

So it does... I think that article is misleading (i.e. wrong). Wiki's article on Silicone Rubber mentions one part or two part RTV: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicone_rubber as does its article on Vulcanisation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulcanization At the end of the day, RTV just...

Rubbery "Goo" needed to stop capacitors vibrating against PCB

Re: Rubbery "Goo" needed to stop capacitors vibrating against PCB Two-part RTV... I think Dow Corning do some, or maybe something like this one... **broken link removed** Any silicone should have a degree of 'rubberiness'; that's its nature. - - - Updated - - - The...

Rubbery "Goo" needed to stop capacitors vibrating against PCB

I would not recommend that particular silicone. It's acid-setting (releases acetic acid during curing). Might cause corrosion. What you want is neutral-cure that usually release alcohol instead. Like this one: https://www.intertronics.co.uk/product/rtv-silicone-adhesive-sealants/ I'm sure...

[SOLVED] What is this Electronic Component

If it's an inductor it will give you a low resistance reading, unless it is failed open circuit. I agree it looks different to the other resistors. That doesn't mean much though. My money's on the 20µF capacitor.

[SOLVED] What is this Electronic Component

Certainly possible to be 200MΩ. My supplier lists SMD resistors up to 50GΩ.

Does using SD card with microcontroller require an operating system?

You do not need an 'operating system' to read a file system. You just need a function library that understands the file system and how to access the SD. It's quite common to do this without an operating system. In fact, for FAT16 and an SD card (which does a lot of the hard work for you itself)...
