    Ferrite core for current sensing

I don't know the exact AL of the toroid, but I think it's over 100. So, if I use 50 turns and 0.1R resistor for sensing a max of 10A, how would that be? How would I determine how to avoid saturation? To avoid saturation, would I increase or decrease the number of turns? What if I were to...

    Ferrite core for current sensing

I was thinking of a small toroid with 1 turn, 100 turns and a 22 ohm load resistor. How accurate will it be? Will the voltage at the output of the current transformer (across the burden resistor) be linear? I want to use a ferrite core because it's cheap, easier to wind. Will there be any...

    Ferrite core for current sensing

I am making a circuit for overcurrent protection where the circuit is shut off using a relay if current is greater than 10A. For current sensing, I chose to use a current transformer. My question is that, if I'm measuring the current flowing through at 220VAC 50Hz, can I use a ferrite toroid? I...

Triac problems in turning CFL on/off

The triac is BT134 rated for 4A RMS on state current and 25A non-repetitive peak state current. The CFL is rated at 30W, 220V AC, 50Hz. It is running from 220V mains. I'm driving the triacs with 5v with a 1k-ohm gate resistor. I hope this can help identify the problem. ---------- Post added...

Triac problems in turning CFL on/off

I have made a circuit to turn on and off 2 CFLs remotely. For the remote control part, I used RC5 protocol. For turning the CFLs on and off, I used triac. I have a few questions here. Firstly what I did was: To turn the CFL on, the microcontroller kept the triac turned on as signal was applied...

    Solar Charge Controller

Ok, thanks for that. I will do that. I have a question about the battery voltage. In some places, I read that battery is fully charged when it reaches 14v, in other places I read that it's fully charged at 12.7v. Which is correct? I'm going to have a battery level indicator with 4 LEDs to...

    Any help? ???

    Solar Charge Controller

What I have in mind is that, since, theoretically power in = power out. If I have a 100W panel that gives 20V output, I get 5A current for charging, but if I convert to about 14v, I get around 7A current. Losses are there obviously, but isn't this theory alright? Or am I missing something here...

    Solar Charge Controller

Hey all, I am working on a solar charge controller for 12v lead acid battery. This is what I planned: I am setting up a small inverter whose battery (70Ah) is charged by a 100W panel all day long (as long as required). If panel voltage is > 13v, output to battery = input voltage. If panel...
