Runtime of clock using alkaline D cells instead of AA batteries

Thanks for all the responses. They helped. :-)

Runtime of clock using alkaline D cells instead of AA batteries

Ok, I found the data sheet. I see the capacity is 15,000 Mah. So, according to the table, if a device using 120 Mah, it would last about 80 hrs. Since the clock uses 30 Mah, that would be about 480 hrs. 480 hrs = 20 days. That does not compute as AAs last around 60 days.

Runtime of clock using alkaline D cells instead of AA batteries

I assume that Time(H) = Capacity(Ah)/Current(A) equals a final battery voltage of 0 volts which will not work in my case. I need a calculation for an ending voltage of around 2.0 volts.

Runtime of clock using alkaline D cells instead of AA batteries

I have a wall clock that uses 2 AA batteries. I would like to use a transformer, but I get frequent power outages. The clock uses about 30 mAh. It lasts about 2 months before it starts losing time. (Around 2.0 volts for the 2 batteries.) If I go with 2 D cell batteries, what kind of run time...

Forward voltage of blue 3 mm led

Thanks for all the help. My voltage source is 3 volts. Will I need a resistor in the circuit? Thanks, Andy

Forward voltage of blue 3 mm led

    Thanks, I will do that.

Forward voltage of blue 3 mm led

The voltage is 3.7 volts for the 18650. I have a wall power source that outputs 3.6 volts that I will probably use.

Forward voltage of blue 3 mm led

I have this package of 30 3 mm blue leds. I do not recall where I bought them. The pic shows one of them powered by a 18650 battery. I was wondering what the forward voltage is?

[SOLVED] 12 vdc led running very hot

So, what kind of additional attention should I give to the 12 volt led?

[SOLVED] 12 vdc led running very hot

I have some 30 gauge un-insulated wire. Will that do? If the heat does not affect the component life, then I can accept the heat. - - - Updated - - - Thanks for the explanation. So the Chinese are using a too low a power rating for the resistor. For crying out loud. :-) How much...

[SOLVED] 12 vdc led running very hot

Are you saying that if I replace it with a 1K resistor, it will not get as hot?

[SOLVED] 12 vdc led running very hot

It is not in a circuit. Resistor show is 510 ohms. [found at: imgur. com /a /bV07ys8]

[SOLVED] 12 vdc led running very hot

I bought some 12 VDC 5 mm red leds. They work find but... when I touch the wires going into the led, they were hot enough that I had to remove my hand. That does not seem normal.
