    Calculation of IGBT Switching Loss

Hi everyone, I am struggling to find IGBT switching loss for PFC circuit. I have also measured Eon (peak) and Eoff (peak) by oscilloscope. I just want to make sure that both measured and calculated values are similar but they are not. For measured values, I use below formulas. I multiply by 2...

    PFC Inductor Design

Hi everyone. I need to design a PFC inductor using toroidal core. When I looked at the Magnetics website, I couldn't figure out which current I should use. I mean sometimes they use DC current for core selection whereas sometimes they use peak current. I just want to make sure LI^2 calculation...

    PSIM Database Editor

Hello everyone. I am trying to add an IGBT to database editor of PSIM. I've added 25°C version of the graph but I am not able to add 175°C version of Ic vs Vce at the same graph as seen below. The other problem is that when I add an IGBT to database editor, that IGBT stops switching. Any idea ?

[SOLVED] Analog PFC Controller with MCU

I just would like to change the PFC output voltage by changing the voltage of the voltage divider by MCU without modifying the voltage loop. By doing that am I modifying the voltage loop ? That's why, I asked whether it is safe or not. Yes, I was talking about the schematic you have shared.

[SOLVED] Analog PFC Controller with MCU

Hi, I would like to think using analog PFC controller as alternative but due to some reason, I may change the output voltage to somewhat lower or higher voltages. So, I would like to modify the output PFC voltage by MCU. I know, PFC output voltage is set by the voltage divider at the output...

    PFC DC Bus Over-Voltage Protection

Its not logical. By doing this way, DC bus will short circuited.

    PFC DC Bus Over-Voltage Protection

Thank you for your reply. There was a cap actually before the inductor which was not shown in example schematic. Yea, I was thinking of freewheel diode. However, this solution again comes with diode. Fortunately, the diode before the inductor does not need to handle full load current. It needs...

    PFC DC Bus Over-Voltage Protection

Hi, thank you for replying. I am thinking to design PFC output as about 400V. However, the place where the PFC will be used may have more than 265VRMS ac mains. It will not be used in Europe. Their ac mains is terrible as I heard. The PFC bulk capacitors are gonna have 500V rated. For mains...

    PFC DC Bus Over-Voltage Protection

Hi Everyone, Due to over-voltages in ac mains, I need to protect the DC Bus, especially the PFC bulk capacitors. I did some research and here what I have found. Mosfet for over-voltage protection has been using for low power battery powered applications as I see. However, I have never seen any...

    About PFC Choke Coil

I have seen some air conditioner outdoor unit electronic boards where external AC side PFC choke coils were used. There are only 2 boards using internal DC side PFC choke coils implemented on the PCB i have seen. Another one was interleaved topology. Rest of them are single CCM boost type and...

    About PFC Choke Coil

Hi, PFC will probably be controlled by MCU but i will take a look analog PFC controllers as you said. I have seen a PFC app note from TI and they were using single CCM boost PFC for 3.5kW. However, they used 2 mosfet and 2 output diode for current handling in that app note. MCU will be already...

    About PFC Choke Coil

The schematic above i have given was taken from Toshiba PFC app note. I have also seen this type of PFC in air conditioner circuits. I need to implement about 3kW PFC circuit but i have some doubts about which topology to choose. The cost is the main thing to consider for our side. I am...

    About PFC Choke Coil

Hi, this is what i am talking about. I know designing with other topology and using GaN, SiC. However, we need to choose cheaper way to do it.

    About PFC Choke Coil

Hi, I need to design 3kW single CCM boost PFC but as i have seen in PFC circuits, PFC choke coil is generally put on AC side before the rectifier. In reference design and textbooks, i have always seen that PFC choke coil was put on DC side after the rectifier. May i ask the advantages and...

    Resonant Converter Simulation Problem

I see 3kW, 4kW LLC converter having high efficiency. My concern is whether constant output current regulation is needed. Since there is no regulation in my circuit, only the metal to be heated will limit the output current. I see chinese ZVS IH boards but these boards is connected to dc power...
