So.nia,
You might be interested in looking at the "Handbook of Filter Synthesis" by A. Zverev. In that book you'll find normalized filter tables with termination impedances of infinite.
An OP amp set up as an comparator ought to work - provided the OP amp output can swing to the rails. You might be able to get away with using a bjt configured as a common emitter amplifier.
Well, I would say it boils down to this: how can you achieve usable data from HFSS with a minimum number of points or tetrahedra? You can take your existing model, reduce the mesh size and compare the data to previous HFSS data with a tighter convergence. You can do that by reducing the...
Yes, that's a lot of points for a regular PC and that will take time to finish. I use a server farm for jobs of that size and larger. Usually, I'll use 8 cores and 16GB to 64GB of memory for jobs requiring hundreds of thousands of tetrahedra.
One thing I noticed is that it says "N/A" at the...
Nothing seems wrong with your setup that I can see. My guess would be the model size is large compared to the wavelength and that the model uses a lot of tetrahedra. Right-click on Analysis --> Setup1 and select convergence to see how many tetrahedra points were used for your model.
What...
The above worked for me as well (press F12 to bring up the PCB filter), however I didn't want to move all components simultaneously. What I did was to manually move the inaccessible components one at a time using Edit » Move » Component. When you use this command you need to click on the...
Okay, thanks a lot for the info sky_123
I will try the interrupt method first since I desire a variable duty cycle, but need a stable output. If I feel the need to isolate the processor then I can always move toward a two chip solution.
I have written my own PWM in assembly for the...
Yes, I did consider a DDS from Analog Devices. In the past (a decade ago) I've used them for multiple loop PLLs. Perhaps I should have another look, but I did assume they were typically operating in the MHz region. I could probably live with a sine wave output, but I wasn't so sure how I...
I've dabbled a bit with microprocessors and even taught an online course in microprocessor interfacing (which is concerned more with peripherals than coding). However, I do not have any formal training or on the job training (or at home hobbyist training) in microprocessors such as the PIC or...
Re: Snap to in HFSS 11
I was having the same problem in HFSS12. I would use Tools --> Options --> Modeler Options --> Drawing and check the Grid check box yet I found I still could not snap to the grid when drawing parts. What worked for me was this:
Modeler --> snap mode --> check the...
I’m totally stuck.
Here is what I’m trying to do:
I’m using Visual C++ 2008 and built a form that uses a text box
The user enters a four digit alphanumeric code into the text box.
I read this text using: textbox->text
Next, I need to separate the four digits into ASCII code.
The ASCII...
I was talking to my boss the other day about finding people to hire, as RF engineers. We agreed that it is (has been) hard to find people so I asked him why he thought that was. He tells me that most kids out of college want to be in marketing or sales. It was then that I realized that it...
hfss 11.1.3
I've been using HFSS version 11.x.x (I think it is 11.1.3 now) and have had issues with memory while running Windows XP, 32-bit (with 3.5G of ram). It seems that this version of windows only allows so much memory (approximately 3.5 GBytes only if you set a switch in an ini file)...
ads momentum optimization
Hello,
I have been using the optimization feature in ADS (for Momentum). I followed one of the examples (a coupler in the documentation) to set up my own optimization.
In the optimization that I use I have several traces changing length as parameters of...
