It depends on the interface between the microcontroller and the bt device, so if the interface to bluetooth (bt) is slower than 721kbps, then this interface is not very effective to use. Most Bt devices are having serial interface and are capable of supporting high baud rates .
Please describe your requirements in more detail. Do you want to use bluetooth as a add-on module or do u want to program some higher bluetooth layers specific to your needs.
