Isn't AT89S53 obsolete now(or it is soon goign to be)? It is not recommended for new designs has been replaced by AT89S8253.

I am working on home automation project (for fun ) and trying to control appliances using this **broken link removed** by Protosmart in Visual basic. I have tested the board with provided software & it all works fine.
Also, I tried controlling the relays using hyper terminal and they worked...

If you are looking for USB programmer for 89S51 then try SmartPro S51. It supports some other variants as well as SPi Eeprom chips.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a cheap USB based ISP programmer for AT89S51 microcontroller please?
I have found some serial/parallel port ones but I need USB one as my laptop doesn't have serial/parallel ports.
