As u can see in the attached circuit there is a resistor in the cathode side and one in the anode side.
The question is why not to put one equivalent resistor equals to the series sum of them (when the led is on lets assume it's a short) ?
I know the answer has something to do with CMR...
The basic definition for parallel conection is that EACH leg of the resistor will be connected to the other. In here they are only connected through Vout. the second wire of each resistor is connected to another point.
