Hello All,
I am designing a 10dBm FSK, 900MHz switching mode PA in CMOS. I cannot find good information on optimizing the driver stage. So I need some pointers here.
My approach is to use a chain of inverters, with their size increasing from the divider to the output stage. Given the load...
I am doing everything now in transient.
In sst you can use transient assisted sst, that is why I use the option
sst_convergence_help=transient.
How do I send the file to mentor?
thanks a lot for your help by the way
Thank you for your advice.
but :)
1. I cannot get it coneverging with SST_CONVERGENCE_HELP=ADVANCED_NEWTON at all.
It will only converge (for some but not all corners) if I use SST_CONVERGENCE_HELP=TRANSIENT,
and I have to set the following option .option nomemstp (even to get convergence...
hello all,
I am trying to simulate a switching mode PA with ELDO RF, and I am having trouble with convergence in certain process corners. Particularly in FAST process and FAST process/low temperature corners. Any ideas? I am using th e following options

If you consider a simple 2-port PI model, the capaciatcnes on the sides of the PI are generaly different from each other due to the distributed nature of the spiral. Depending on which port you ground, you will end up with a different resonance frequency. The question which capacitance is...
The inductance may not change, but I believe that the resonance frquency changes as the equivalent capacitance is not the same on each port. The question is which will yield lower parastic cap and higher Q?!
Hello all,
Urgent question:
Given a grounded (1-port) integrated spiral inductor on Si substrate:
1. Which is the recommended connection: connecting the RF node to the outer turn of the inductor and ground the inner turn, or the RF node to the inner turn and ground the outer turn?
2...
Hello,
I need some urgent help. I am using an online calculator for one of the main CMOS foundaries
in the world. My objective is to determine the life time of a circuits under differnt voltage and
temperature conditions. The problem is that I do not understand some of these terms (which
they...
source to bulk capacitance
Hello All,
I am trying to extract the source-bulk junction capacitance using eldo. The model I have is BSIM3v3 and the confusion is as follows:
There are two capacitances between the source and bulk
1. Intrinsic CSB which is due to the bulk charge.
2. Extrinsic...
Hello Everyone,
I am searching for a model or any resources that would be suitable @1GHz for 5mmx5mm VQFN package (32 or 24 pins). Specifically, I need to get an estimate of the leads inductance and capacitance.
Thank you in advance

calculate output impedance
Hmm I doubt you can measure the input impedance from S11 only. You have to measure the 4 parameters of the two port network. After you do so, you can find the input and output impedances given the source and load impedances.
inductor simulator
For quick simulation of inductors up to few GHz you can use ASITIC from Berkeley. Not really as accurate as HFSS, yet again I doubt the transistor models are as accurate. It comes free!!!
