Really? Where can you get these? I've checked Mouser, Digikey, local electronics stores, etc.
The only places online that seem to sell them don't sell the simple plastic frame + metal contacts for LCC-48 (which should be about $2/unit).

I'm trying to find some affordable LCC (ie: CLCC) 48-pin sockets for a project I'm working on. I could always make a custom PCB, but these chips are very sensitive and easy to damage, so I'd rather go with a prototyping adapter.
