    Great suggestion. Thanks

    Configurable Communications Interface

I am looking for a way to multiplex several communications protocols to an output of only 2 pins to provide more configuration options. I have a 4 way connector that is split for 2 sensors and 2 communications pins but I would like to offer I2C, UART, and CAN communications. As I have limited...

    Totally Analogue or DSP mixture?

Adding an Anti-Aliasing filter on the output of the pre-amplifier I suppose negates having a processor doing filtering, amplifying, etc. I never thought of a differential output though. Good idea thanks.

    Totally Analogue or DSP mixture?

Morning all, I have been given a task to design a sensor that will amplify very low voltage signals from muscle electrode sensors. The device is battery operated and needs to be a very small PCB footprint. Specs: Input 10uV to 100uV (20Hz to 450Hz) Output 0V to 4.7V My question is should I...

Measuring Torque on an Induction motor

I have measured the current of each phase with an AC current clamp. 250mA @ 150V per phase at 60rpm. I think that this is right. I thought that since torque is almost proportional to current that I would be able to calculate torque easily but I just dont know with 3 phase. - - - Updated...

Measuring Torque on an Induction motor

I want to measure the torque produced from my 3-phase 40W induction motor when running at 60rpm. My motor gives me a rated torque of 3.6Nm. I want to know at what operating percentage my motor is running at. If I am operating at only 10% then I will use a small motor/gear head, etc I am...

USB Earth connected to Digital GND

I have taken some equipment for EMC Testing and was zapping the machine with 4kV with an ESD Gun and my USB communications failed. The problem was that when I insert the USB cable the Earth and GND are connected on the PC side. When I remove the cable it is ok. Unfortunalty I need the USB cable...

    USB Coms keeps falling out.

The earthing was terrible (i did not do it), put some decent earthing in and I havn't had a bad connection yet.

    USB Coms keeps falling out.

Hi All, I am usign an FTDI USB to RS232 converter between my board and my PC. The problem is that the communications keeps failing and I have to take out the USB cable and then put it back in to re-enumerate the device. I have been using a 2M Shielded USB Cable that has a ferrite core at both...

Performing a Tare on the AD7730

I have been using the AD7730 for a while now but until recently if I wanted to tare a weight off my system then I did it by software on the PC side. I want to do this now using the AD7730's calibration functions, the documentation on how to do this is vague at best . I am using bi-polar mode so...

Loosing USB Coms due to interference.

Thats not a bad idea although I would rather have a prevention rather than a cure. I guess I can use that solution if all else fails, thanks.

Loosing USB Coms due to interference.

I have just finished designing a simple interface between my main PCB board and my PC software (writtten in C#). The USB coms is simply the FTDI chip (FT232R) and so I use the serial I/O on my microcontroller to send commands at 38,400bps. This is a very simple interface to which I have used...

Maximum number of samples from AD7730

That is not the case as I am running a 72MHz processor and have disabled all code apart from reading the load cell and I get the same results.

Maximum number of samples from AD7730

Hi, Sorry the number of samples/s, I wait for the /RDY line to go LOW, read my 3 bytes for 24-bits and then wait for the /RDY to go HIGH and then repeat this again. The Filter Word is set for 400Hz with Fast Mode and Chop Mode both enabled which should give me a conversion time of 7.5ms which...

Maximum number of samples from AD7730

I have a timer running that measures and displays the number of pulses in a second, this changes when I press the button to enable and run the motor. The AD7730 is running with at 4.1952MHz (as specified) and the SPI bus is running at 1.125MHz connected directly to my Microcontroller running at...
