I don't think you HEAR very well  I said you can't download it. You also DON'T NEED a license file for SOPC-Builder 2.8 (Nios 3.0). Just install and it will work. :P EDIT: today I received News & Views Q1-2003. on page 10 I read that you can TESTDRIVE the Nios processor for Free. If...

Problem with using the "fopen" on Nios

fopen nios If you write c-code for the Nios, always remember you are writing code for an embedded system. the Nios isn't the next juicy pentium to play games on and surf the internet. no, nios is ment to be used in embedded applications. i recommend you reconsider your approach, cause fopen...

    n1os & m1croblaze, opinions ?

Answer to Jayson's question You install Xilinx EDK kit 3.1 or the new 3.2. You run Xilinx Platform Studio and you configure you're very own Microblaze embedded system. You have to choose which peripherals you use, which buses (opb or plb), which memory ranges, and all the settings of the...

    n1os & m1croblaze, opinions ?

Unfortunately for Xilinx, I must concur with Loki. I'm afraid Xilinx has to put as much as 10x the effort into Microblaze to achieve the same level as Altera...too bad, maybe a missed opportunaty.

    Comments on NIOS-core (Altera)

I suggest you buy the Nios kit for $995 (or less). So you can try it for yourself. I personally only use the command line debugger, because that suffices for me. If you work on complex designs, I can understand you want to use the third-party tools. regards, ddr

    Comments on NIOS-core (Altera)

compile your Nios system with Synplify, Leonardo Spectrum,.. normally you can't synthesise your nios-vhdl/verilog-design after you compile it in synplify. this is because sopc builder puts low-level, architecture specific stuff in the vhdl/verilog which synplify wrongly translates. a simple...
