You may start from a simple project/example. Learning by doing a project
is much better than just reading sth in this case.
Writing scripts helps. I myself prefer scripts to GUI.
for reading materials, Synopsys' online documents are good enuf.

Re: Synthesis scripts
For synthesis, you may use Synopsys Design Compiler. Other
than Synopsys online doc, you can also take a look at
