Hi yefj,
Rule-of-thumb for the decoupling capacitors: Large value closest to supply rail, small value closest to IC supply pins. Small value capacitor absorbs fast transient dips/supplies fast current to the IC, the large value is a reservoir capacitor buffering the rest of circuit from the...
Hi,
You might be able to deduce a replacement part from the varistor parameters Panasonic provide in this D type, V series product range datasheet.
CL 190 - There are several parts with this product code. You would need to show a photo of the thing if it's on a PCB you have, if not, and you...
Hi JQbrother,
I couldn't answer your questions, sorry.
(You might want to delete this question from the 'DIY' section, if that's possible, and re-post it in the 'elementary' or 'hobby' section, for example. Here in the 'DIY' section, members may not open your thread and read your question as...
Ho hum... And so much for that special secret solution. Ho hum...
Point of thread was to collate some information on the topic here, so for anyone interested in the topic and looking for a quick round-up of the causes and the/some possible solutions:
These articles discuss solutions:
Reduce...
Hi,
The MLCCs are Murata:

10uF X7R 1206 overview on Murata website
The reason for the paralleled 220R resistors is that a packet of 45 (quantity) 100R 1206, 100V, 0.25W thin film resistors has literally...
Hi,
Not sure if you're serious or trolling. I'm a hobbyist who knows they are scorned on this forum, hope you're not wasting my time trying to ridicule me but are genuinely interested in this topic. I'll send you the PCB and a detailed thesis, if you wish, and you need it all to provide a...
Hi,
If you're adept with your sim tool, there should be CCVS and VCCS and so on in there whose parameters can be set to emulate the opto to a greater or lesser degree, with maybe some external passives to shape it a bit more accurately or reflect temperature effects. It looks a bit complicated...
Hi,
Thanks. If I had 1% of your ability, talent, experience and knowledge, that would be a huge improvement. I looked up PZT yesterday. None of the stuff directly said it was used in X7R, so I'm a bit lost as to whether that's what you meant - 'unfortunately' makes me guess so. In another...
Hi,
Success! :ROFLMAO:
I'm really pleased to say that yesterday I had my first experience of hearing some X7R MLCC 1206 capacitors making that irritating, high-pitched whine/squealing noise ('singing' is not the adjective I'd use for that sound) on a very simple 10 kHz, 10% duty cycle LED...
Hi,
Yes, okay. OP seems to have fled, anyway.
I know, I have a DMM and so on and know Vbe is a diode drop, but BVebo is in datasheets for a reason, I guess. Wish I hadn't mentioned it, but thanks for deeper description.
I meant fm101 perhaps wasn't aware of the importance of datasheet...
Hi Barry,
Thanks, I'd realised that point. I just thought it might be helpful to fm101 to understand that - as FvM briefly said - every part, including a Transistor Universal NPN (TUN), has its maximum ratings, and 12V is double the 6V maximum Vbe for BJTs.
Also, 2N3904 is a TUN, if Vbe max. is 6V, why the 12V Zener rather than a 5.6V Zener? Vcb is max. 60V, as well. Absolute maximum ratings and recommended operating conditions. Datasheets are very helpful. Normal is: idea > schematic > datasheets > simulation and/or prototype > final version of...
Hi,
Your threads are always interesting, and I get to learn a fair bit from what I see of your work.
OTA or TIA, or what? Is it a 741-style amplifier (joke) or an R2RIO? No schematic makes parsing what could be suggested really hard.
Whilst still having a lot to grasp about OAs, I associate...
- Tau = RC = 1k * 10uF = 10ms (*5 = 50ms)
- 1 second/60 Hz = 16ms OR 1 second/50 Hz = 20ms
- 1N5242B = response time? I guess it turns on fast enough. The datasheet I just looked at said nothing of capacitance or turn-on time, no graphs, nothing useful except for VZener nominal of 12V ranging...
