programming on top of a driver
What I understand is, for the firmware part, if I use USB IC as a driver, I simply need MCU to communicate with this IC, right? the firmware is only for MCu. And another question is? for PC side, how does my host program know which USB IC I am using? Or, how the...

Currently, my projects work at the devices have I/O port such as RS232 with PC. Now, I am thinking my future project will work at USB port. Can anyone give me advices include how write drivers for PC, and how setup the port for device (MCU)?
Basically, how can I start up with USB...
I have been using CCS for a year. I beleve that CCS is not the good C compiler to use with. I am thinking to switch it to Hi-Tech.
One of examples why I don't like CCS is when I used the I2C functions in CCS, they are not working OK. then I have to re-write the driver to do so.
