i want a single output.
using differential structure is not difficult but after that LC network is needed to combine the differential outputs which decreases the output power because of the poor Q.
That is the reason for using sinlge-ended VCO.

I find few papers about VCO design using single transistor for the frequency at several GHz. Is anyone know the reason? for colpitts structure, is it suitable for 3-10 GHz design?

As I know, push-pull output swing is from 0~VDD, if differential structure is used, output swing can reach -VDD~VDD. But can not meet the requirement. What does "switch mode supply" mean? Is it the same with charge pump? Thank you for futher explaination.

I am using ADS HB simulating a VCO. It can work, but there are many warnings:

While evaluating `dcSourceLevel':
ln() changed return type during a simulation. Not supported..
