Re: THD
THD is distortion due to presence of harmonics and is only related to the
non-linearity of the input-output characteristic.
Oversampling does not have any effect on non-linearity. At best it can produce a
better reproduction of the fundamental but will not have any other effect
The procedure is simple...
Short any input voltage source .. and open any input current source...
Apply a voltage between the output terminals and observe the current or
Apply a current between the output terminals and observe the voltage developed
across the terminals...
The Output resistance...
Hi All,
Following are three very important PLL articles of a 3-part series written in
the Microwave and RF journal (mwrf.com) .
Eric.Drucker. Model pll dynamics and phase noise.Part 1, part 2,part 3.
Nov 1999. Feb 2000.May 1999.
Unfortunately, these are no longer available there. I would be...
Re: Diff Amp with active load vs diff amp with linear resist
There is another major difference..
Active loads in general are non-linear.
Non-linear loads convert common mode noise to differential mode noise,
whereas linear loads dont.

Could any one tell me how the VCO with symmetric loads accomplishes the following
thing
1) High dynamic supply noise rejection -> The maneatis paper says that this is
due to the suppression of first order terms..
I can see how symmetric loads achieve better linearity. If u superimpose...
No U dont need to transmit ground signal if u transmit a differential signal.
A differential signal is basically a signal wherein u transmit two equal and
opposite signals wrt a common mode such that the difference gives u the
actual signal.
eg:-
If We need to transmit Vin
then over...
Rewat,
U r wrong there... I was thinking about this and the correct explanation is:-
Vcm increases-> current in left leg increases -> current in right leg decreases->
Vp increases -> I(Out-Top) decreases
Vn increases-> I(Out-Bottom) increases
Since, I(Top) and I(Bottom) are now unbalanced...
Hi All,
I was trying to understand the CMFB circuit by for the LVDS by Boni.
From the circuit can somebody explain how the CMFB circuit works.
I have some more CMFB circuits that I am trying to understand.
This is the first one.
If Vcm increases above 1.25 V the current in the left leg...
Hi Thanks,
I realised that. Whenever you compensate you compensate the whole loop,
and it doesnt matter where exactly you put those capacitances as long as the dominant pole exists there.
Regards Prashanth
Hi
In a CMFB employing a DDA, how do we provide compensation.
In the Baker L Boyce Book he discusses that capacitors at the input
of the CMFB amplfifer can be used for Differential compensation as
well as for CMFB compensation.
If we increase the capaciatance at the leads of a diff amp, then...
Common mode feedback is in general needed since the PMOS current source
and the NMOS input devices in a diff amp always have an error between
themselves.
This error when multiplied by the vast output resistance of the opamp creates
the common mode imbalance.
