hello all
I wrote a gui in visual basic that sends the word 'temp' to my micro
by the press of a button. in addition i wrote a procedure that reads ASCII values from the micro and place them in the text box.
can some please verify if my VB code is ok?

i was told that i need to use an optocopuler in order to interface it to the micro.
what is an optocopuler ? how it is related to the PIR sensor working mechanisem ?

the resistors values were chosen according to PICDEMO2 PLUS schematics (attached page 15 )
which use 4.7k resistors as pull up between the PIC16F877 and the temp sensor TC74.
