Post05 Dec 2004 10:17   How to create Symbol from Netlist

I extract a netlist from layout in Cadence and hope to do post-simulation with this netlist.
If i can get a symbol from this netlist,i will add the symbol to schematic editor and perform post-simulation by Spectre.
But i don't know how to.
Can give some ideas?
or if there are other ways to do post-simulations?
Thx...

You can create a symbol by yourself. The symbol can be in any shape as long as it contains the same pins as the extracted view does -- both pin names and directions ( input, output, ...).

You can also simulation the extracted view directly. The stimuli can be added with a spice stimulus file (ascii file). Add the stimulus file in the 'Set Environment' Form. As for the format of the voltage source and current source, you can see the schematic netlist ( generated by Analog Artist ).

OK.Thanks
Maybe my expression is ambiguous.
In fact,i have done post-simulation in HSPICE and the result seems fine.
However,it seems i can't get Noise Figure from HSPICE simulation.
Then, how to do post-simulation by Spectre in Cadence?
I know how to generate symbol from schematic. But i don't know how to generate a symbol from netlist directly.
Had anybody ever done it?

You may use the extraction view to do post-layout simulation, or you can create a configure file to do the same job

Thank you.I catch your meanning.
You suggest getting extract view by "Verify-->Extract".
But "Verify" is not available here.
I extract the netlist by "Calibre-->PEX".
So,can extracted view be generated in this way(Calibre)?

Hi, Great to find this post. I'm now having the same problem, have you solved this problem?

Regards.

I do not think any cad tools can build a symbol from the netlist.

My point is, you should have the pin definition. With the pin definition you can creat a cellview (symbol) from pin list.

And i am curious about your noise figure. Can u tell me what it is and how to get it.
