Post04 Dec 2004 0:20   Notch Filter Design

Hello,
I need a notch filter topology to give me a notch at 2.2 GHz. The notch should be of as low order as possible preferably 2. Also, I need to realise this with Inductors with a maximum quality factor of 6. Any suggestions would help.

I wouldn't use inductors at 2.2GHz.I would use microstrip filter instead (very simple).
By the way,you mentioned nothing about the desired attenuation and bandwidth.

The Bandwidth of the notch is 220MHz. Also the attenuation should be -40dB below the zero frequency value at the notch frequency

Hi

for that wide BW n attenuation u can easily realize it with 3 or 5 section quaterwave coupled microstrip section.

hi

see if this helps. this is a quaterwave coupled 5 section notch filter on a rogers6006 20mil 1/2 oz cu. i optimized the circuit using designer and modeled it on hfss.
