LabView is very graphical and easy to learn. In examples there are at least 15 examples for communication serial. parallell, tcp/ip client or server.

The help is fabulous. There are not so many books for LabVIEW unless they are in NI.com website. There is a great tutorial there if you have a full LabVIEW installation.

Why not try starting with the examples in LabVIEW itself. The LAbVIEW developer zone has a 3 hr tutorial on getting started in LabVIEW.

Maybe once you have completed the 2 of them, you can look at LabVIEW Basics Course Manual - 1 & 2. This is one of the best. For developing an application onetime do not spend much time with the 2nd Volume of the manual, the 1st volume alone would suffice.

Thats my 2 cents !

thanks

Register with National Instruments and you will be able to get free evaluation version of LabView7. It will come with tutorial and from there you can start.

Try the Labview Basics I and II course books. They offer tips and very useful info for the beginner and advanced user. Good luck.
