4021 and 74hc(t)195

What's the major differences between them. I tried 4021 and it worked for my project. So it seems enough for now. But i wonder must i choose the other one especially for future designs which may need higher speeds?
And from the view of reliability etc which one must be chosen according to you?

Re: 4021 and 74hc(t)195

the 4021 is 8 bits and the 74hct195 is 4. The hc part is five times faster. I would suspect that cost would be the driver if speed is not in your application.

Re: 4021 and 74hc(t)195

pardon it was 74hc595. Speed is one difference. Operating voltage is second i think according to the model. I wonder application based tips. If anyone who have used both may say something that anyone can't see in a first look.
