| A free electron indicates electrons present in the valence band which can be used for conduction. A hole is a non-present electron. Hence, it indicates a non-present electron in the valence band which can also be used for conduction.

A free electron exists in the conduction energy band because it has nowhere else to go. The valence band is full. A hole exists in the valence band because there is not enough electrons to take up the space in the valence band. As the electrons move in the valence band, holes are generated in their wake. This is hole current and it is only in the valence band.

Hi .. have you ever played chinese chess ..You know the game . in a shape of a star and with marbles ..? If you did .. well when you move the marbles by jumping another marble .. Well you leave a HOLE .. If you don't pay attention to the moving marble ..The HOLE appears to be an entity by itself .like it has moving capacity . In the electronic world The atomic ladder .won't move ..This is the equivalent of the chinese chess board . The electrons move only ..in the chinese game is the same, only the marbles move .. But because when an atom loses an electron .the charge of it changes ..it becomes less negative ,so more positive you can assume that the hole left is also a particule that is positive and by CHEAP relativity .. you can assume either that the moving particles are electrons or holes .. because the absence of an electron changes the charge of atom in a very precise maner .! .. Although now ,and i'm shure that you knew that the only real thing moving is the electron !..
But a blind person would not know .. if he would try to locate the hole on the chinese chess board by touch . every time he will see the HOLE on a different place . He will assume that the HOLE JUMPED from place to place

| when semiconductor material is excited then an electron jumps from one region to another this electron is called free electron which is negatively charged and due to excitation of that electron an empty space is left behind in the region which becomes positively charged this is called free hole. they both can move freely in their respective region

| there is no concept of free hole .actually the hole is the absence of valence band electron.when an electron gets energy more than the band gap energy it leaves the valence band and goes to the conduction band so it leaves an hole which is nothing but the absence of an electron. the electron which is free from bond and moves freely is called free electron.

an electron when looked upon as a single thing which is able to move anywhere within the material under the action of a field is a free electron.
we assume an electron would fall into a hole and neutralize itself.
