I am a layout engineer and I have about 2years experience about it.Last week my company leader told us that he want to choose one in layout group to learn analog design, will I apply for this chance? If I applied,I must try to be an analog designer,I am afraid whether I can do it.

For a analogy layout designer, you should know the knowledge about layout.
For a analogy circuit designer, you should know the knowledge about design.
It a chance for you to know more not only layout but also design

I believe the knowledge obtained in analog layout would not go into waste, skills such as parasitics estimation on the node and line of the realized layout would be much useful. Furthermore a designer with some knowledge in layout could estimate the practical value of the passive component utilized in the design to avoid large space consumption in the later part of the layout. Good Luck to you in the future adventure to come.

Thank you,sunking&hrkhari

I still feel The back-end design is more attractive for me:)Maybe I need to learn some knowledge of analog design, but it will not be the most important in my mainly learning field. So I plan to learn P&R.
Interest is my best teacher.Razz

It doesn't mean when you are an analog designer you can't do any layout! A good analog designer is he know the design and the layout itself! I think it is agood oppurtunity for u to join the analog design field! You have the advantage to have better design because you know pro and cons for the layout issues!

As for me...I'm more on analog design and very bad on layout! Hope I will capable and learn on layout!

I envy with you.. Very Happy
