hi to all

i need a 3 NiMH Battery Charger schematic (smart)
I make some search on internet and found Dallas's DS2700 ic
other ic's use so many componets on ic and some of them doesnt have an application circuit on their pdf
DS2700's bad property is it look to the temperature of the battery and at my circuit my battery is so far from the battery charger circuit that charger cannot meausure temperature.
Can anyone help ?

You don't need Google to search this site, we have our own search function: www.edaboard.com/search.php
This search function is much more efficient for searching EDAboard than Google is.

Try to search for the datasheet of the regulator IC LM317. There's a sample charger circuit included for the LM317.

MAX712/713 have problem with some batts.

If the voltage 0.25 volt is wrong, the timer and A/D
won't work.

Some batts or old batts make the 0.25v error.
I think it comes from internal resistant.

before some months I make a charger with LM3647 froma National
I use it for 2 or 4 NiMH or NiCd batteries, but it's easy to configure for any range of batteries.
I give a eagle files with PC board and schemes.
I have some troubles with make chip design in eagle, but board is OK
(on pcb lm3647 is mirrored)

PS: If someone like to make changes on board, I will be happy to see his design Wink

If you localed in USA, you can order sample IC or buy chip IC from many company.

national, maxim-ic, onsemi.com

There are many good chip IC out there.
But beware of max713/712. It's old fashion chip.
There are many problems. One is internal resistant and one is trickle current for ni-mh is too high.

Onsemi have one PDIP type, MC33342-D

There is noting wrong with the MAX chip as long as you use professional quality batteries, don’t buy those cheap crappy once and you will be fine.

11 Aug 2004 7:17 nimh charger source code

Yes, I have 20 Toshiba ( the deep blue ) and SANYO 1800 ( deep green ).

charging at C/3 only 1 cell.

Sometime I can fast charge to 6 hrs.!! without terminate.

I meter the voltage across R sense, I didn't 0.25v
for some batts.

What's wrong ?

I've made many types of NiCd and NiM-H chargers, IMHO the temperature sense is by far the best method. I have found when you're wacking in a lot of power monitoring the over-voltage is not reliable as there is always some small and variable junction potential between the bateries and their holder.
