5 phase stepper motor sequence

Are you sure that you have 5 phases ?

don't U think that should be 4 unipolar phases with a common middle point ?

5 phase stepper sequence

I see a lot stepper motors and they always have multiple of 2 phases.

5 strange number of phases?!!

Try to look again maybe you overlook something.

stepper secuency

hello,
the stepper motor is from berger lahr and the only thing that i know that its a 10 wire stepper motor witha 0,72/0,36 degrees ,thats the only thing written on the motor , and its an old stepper so i dont think that any information is present on there site .
Well Im assuming that its a 5 phase stepper motor, what else would have 10 wires .????!!!!
What do you think guys?

moon steppermotor

ok maybe someone does have an idea of controling a 5 phase motor what is the software sequence .
i tried this sequence for a full wave
1-10000
2-01000
3-00100
4-00010
5-00001
everyhing works fine from phase 1 to 5 but when coming back from 5 to 1 the stepper go backward the whole sequence and starts from the initial state
Can anybody give me some ideas on wats going wrong . is it the sequence of control????

sequence for 5-phase stepper motor

Hi
Once upon a time there was a 5 phase stepper.
If you have 10 wires it must be a bipolar type.
So you must have 5 drivers , you can use L298 qty 3.
but you must know max current for motor wires ,or
you will have a low torque or you will burn motor.
Also resolution is bad 0,72/0,36.
A lot of steppers around are 1,8/0,9 so... Smile

5 phase stepper berger lahr catalog

Zelec, when you make you motor running, does it do a half turn when sending step 1 to 5 or does it do a full turn ?

if it does a half one, maybe that mgajo is right on the way of that could be a bipolar one... so, you will have to send 5 more step :
6 -1 0 0 0 0
7 0 -1 0 0 0
8 0 0 -1 0 0
9 0 0 0 -1 0
10 0 0 0 0 -1

moreover , did you try the half step control :
1 : 1 0 0 0 0
2 : 1 1 0 0 0
3 : 0 1 0 0 0
4 : 0 1 1 0 0
5 : 0 0 1 0 0
6 : 0 0 1 1 0
7 : 0 0 0 1 0
8 : 0 0 0 1 1
9 : 0 0 0 0 1
10 : 1 0 0 0 1

... I'm interesting for further informations...

user controls for motor steppers 5 phase

thank you a lot manitooo
i missed the next 5 steps -10000,0-1000.....
now it works
the problem now is that a have to use an H-bridge for every phase which makes my design more complicated unfortunatly, but anyway thanks a lot .
