I use this material for teaching DSPs And i find is the best hands on in dsp
book out there .
DSP applications Using C and the TMS320C6x DSK
by Rulph Chassaing
John Wiley & sons, inc
The book comes with a CD with the code for all examples .
This book is a solid material for learning DSPs using the C6711 top of the line floating point processor ..
But the catch is that a DSK eval board is required .. But let me tell you
this will be the best $395 investement that you will ever make ...!!!!!!
The board is necessary also because it will let get the software Code Composer Studio 2.1 ..(eval) and a 30 days full MATLAB eval CD
The 8 chapters on the book can be covered in 15 working days
it will walk you trough filters ,FFts and how to write optimized code
A part on how to design filters using MATLAB is also covered
There is a final chapter on ideas of dsp projects .. that a wandering student in this forum not long ago was desperate to get.

I decided to "Promote this book" because i see a lot of people desiring to learn DSP ,, and go in all directions ..at the end not knowing how to put it all together ..
Well this book + board will let you see the TOP of the LINE DSP with enough examples in action ..Later you can fine tune your Knowlegde with solid Theory .. But you got already close to the CODE !!

I think that you can download the electronic version of the book
here :
http://www.mcu.cz/atm/index.php?&direction=0&order=&directory=eBookOld/DSP

look also for the code !

Enjoy!!
