I have a encrypted rar file , also i have it's extracted file , but i have forgotten encrypted rar file password .
how can i find encrypted rar file password ?

Hmm,

It is sometimes very difficult to find password of rar files because of its length.Longer passwords = long hours, days and years Very Happy

But if you still want to try, Advanced Rar password finder from ElcomSoft will make you happy.

P.S. By the way i'm curious about if it is possible to write a new password on old one in zip/rar file?

You can use Advanced RAR Password Recovery (arpr): http://www.elcomsoft.com/arpr.html

But it is harder to recover a password from a rar file than from an (old) zip file, because rar passwords are better encrypted than (old) zip passwords.
Newer zip-software have improved the encryption lately.

This is not possible !!!
Because password (or it hash) not storing in archves ...
Only this method is available for replacing WinNT, Win2K, WinXP pasword hash ...

in RAR/ZIP the entire file is encrypted based on the key/password give by the user, password is nowhere stored in the file.

Hmm,

Yes it is true.I just read an article that says, The *file* is encrypted with a password and when archiver program wants to unpack file it tries to unpack with given password and checks checksum.If it is true then unpack file.So, no stored password in file, no need to store password.
The only way is to find original password with brute forcer like elcomsoft's.

For solves the problems with rar files I usually use another programs.But yesterday no one of these tools couldn't help to me.And I used the Internet and found there-corrupted rar file.This tool solved my issues in a short time and program did it free of cost.Furthermore application demonstrated-extract corrupted RAR file helps and scans the needed file and makes a decision.
