Mitesh, I use gm862gsm from round sollution, and I think it is the cheapest so far (<80 at high qty). They are manufactured in Romania by Telit, and works just fine. But be serious man.... $35 for GSM module it's a dream...

Hei pisoiu, really in Romania ? Nice, do you know by chance where is
the fab located ?
And another question: internal TCP/IP stack can be disabled, ie
use the module as a GPRS modem (as with a phone)?

Post10 Apr 2004 12:40   Re: Low Cost GSM Module

Cosmin,
Let's be clear about one issue. They are only manufactured in Romania, not sold. I obtained it from outside country, but what is sure is they are manyfactured in Romania. My guess is they are manufactured by Solectron, Timisoara. The technology inside looks pretty high, with 0402 and 0201 components, and there are not many places in Romania when SMT lines for such components are available. I do not have experience with GPRS, so I cannot answer related question.

US$35 with GPRS is impossible today, however, for GSM only, there are:
SonyEricsson GM29 Insight-Memec
Siemens' TC35 Impact-Memec

You can visit www.memec-asiapacific.com to find the information.
