how to start to learn Synopsys Design Compiler?

i am a front end engineer , and have been working for 2years in RTL Coding, Verification .

Now i wan't to start to learn some about DC, i don't wan't to learn very deep , but the basic usage of DC.

how can I start?

You can do the training of the Design Compiler Tut. After that, you could know about the flow and the basic command of DC. Then, I think you might do the synthsis on your design for meeting your require.

Remeber foundmental concept is very important for synthesis!!

In our experience all books about DC (and there are not to much of them) are not worth buying. Synopsys documentation is very good and much better then any book you could buy.
But the best thing for start is Synopsys Chip Synthesis Workshop (because it is in form of slides, maybe you could combine them with DC User Guide). DC Reference Manual covers same things as User Guide, but is 3 times bigger. Advanced Chip Synthesis Workshop (in slides again) is the next step, when you have enough experience.

I attend the training you mentioned, but I didn't see any Video CD.

Best Way : Dig by urself .. tool help .. and simple example .. ask for the basic couple of commands and start with them ..

I learnt by self. Advanced Asic Chip Synthesis by Bhatnagar Himanshu is really good. How to give constraints and different dc commands all these things very well explained. Also read synopsys DC user guide. Initially take small design and try to synthesize the design , try to remove warnings .

You may start from a simple project/example. Learning by doing a project
is much better than just reading sth in this case.
Writing scripts helps. I myself prefer scripts to GUI.

for reading materials, Synopsys' online documents are good enuf.
and Himanshu Bhatnagar's Advanced ASIC Chip Synthesis is also
pretty good. You can download it on EDABoard.

Hi all,
I would like to know where I can find help manuals for Synopsys Design Compiler (other than SOLD) and Synopsys PrimeTime.
I need to know what are the different timing constraints commands in both the tools.
Could anyone please guide me in the right direction to look for this information?

It's not for download .. u need to have its license .. and I don't think that there are evaluation versions of it ..
