"The world around us is changing so ripidly that robotics and bio advancements are Evolving 100 times faster than we are." I read that article in a news paper about three years ago, ever sence I have been a robot hobbyist. I have built many unrealistict robots in the past. But just recently I have been thing about some new cazy ideas for my next robot, wich leads me to a question. I need to find a real powerful microcontroller? any suggestion.

Atmel AVR is one of the most powerful 8-bit MCUs.
Cygnal and Dallas also makes some quite fast 8051 MCUs.
If you want an even more powerful MCU you should look for 16- or 32-bit MCUs.
A very popular and very powerful 32-bit MCU is the ARM core. There is a lot of different vendors who makes ARM MCUs.
You can also use a DSP, which is usally very fast.

| Wow!! This web site is cool this is my first time using it and within 30 min. I'm already receiving help, Thanks ME, the Atmel AVR is some microcontroller and sounds like it could get the job done. I really like it alot. The 16 or 32 bit MCU's may be better for this project i'm working on because I already have future expanding plans. do you now of any vendors that mit sale a 16 or 32 bit microcontroller. I really appreciate your interest . Thanks!

Renesas (former Hitachi and Mitsubishi) makes a lot of different 4, 8, 16 and 32 bit MCUs: http://renesas.com/eng/products/mpumcu/index.html
http://www.infineon.com makes C166 16-bit MCU family and 32-bit TriCore family.

Atmel both makes AVR and ARM.
ARM, Cirrus Logic, Intel, OKI, Philips, Samsung and Sharp are among the vendors of ARM powered MCUs.
Just try to search for ARM MCU at google.

Hey, I have found just one more problem, I know that finding any IR or sonar sensor will not help me. How do you take a home made sensor and make it work on any microcontrol. For some reason trying to put the two together has been a complete nightmare. Please help.
