quaternions and smoothing

I need to smooth between two velocity vector (to do not decelerate ad the end of one to go in the other direction). Someone have some algorithm to do this? I found very few things about vector blending. I actually interpolate by a spline the two directions, but if I wish to do it with quaternions?

thx
