No it is an eprom programmer and doesn't program microcontrollers.

Me, with this programmer i work fine with Microchip PIC 12x and 16x and Atmel 89x microcontrollers.

Programming PIC18F s is a must for me. I can program with my conquest based programmer but I am about to make a new programmer for me and I want to know this programmer programs PIC18Fs or not... I asked the author via email but there is no response yet. If he answers, I'll let you know too...

this programmer circuit 'JDM' is simple and has good capability for different type of PIC.

I've got many problems programming 18F458 with JDM on win XP and ic-prog1.5c. - success/fail ratio was 1/5 Confused

i think there was some _bad timing_ problems.
now I'm using wisp628 programmer to program 18F458 - every time without problem! this is nice ICSP programmer build around 16F628 it is simple and fast enough. check it

From first look, you feel its complicated enough to work good, the DOS command and no ability to write the program in simple mode are the main problem in this circuit...any way, you said " I'm using wisp628 programmer to program 18F458 - every time without problem!", I will test it myself....But, is it work with IC-prog or not ? its important for me to know that if you please..

nice ISP programmer for many PICS only 35 us dollars

it can prog PIC18, but check that it can program your particular device.

I think its good programmer, but i can't buy it Online...!!! I live in Egypt, we have what we called "Taxes for buying" we pay about 50% to 100% taxes for component come from out-side Egypt ... unfortunately, I must pay 70$ for this circuit's !!!! without adding the transport charge Exclamation

!!! .I think its bad deal for me, anuway....thanks for your help.But what I need is simply "circuit diagram" for the programmer, thats alll................. Cool

My programmer can program PIC12/PIC16/PIC18 series microcontrollers, I've made 3-4 PCBs of it for me and my friends, it works with ICProg fine... (Conquest based)

But I want to make a new programmer with programming several microcontrollers, EEPROMS (PC FLASH BIOS, 24xx etc.) and willem looks like fine if it can program PIC18Fs too....

So , JDM or another PIC only programmer has no advantage for me...

Hi galilu,
Ic-prog does not support wisp628, you can’t use it.
For wisp628 there is software for dos and windows. I’m using xwisp for windows /you’ll need to install python interpreter/. Both program uses _linux_ style command line mode. This is a bit confusing but … the programmer is good enough to identify target. The most common command is:
xwisp.py go test.hex
That’s all.
There is another windows software for wisp, but you’ll need to write an .ini file for 18F458 by yourself.
