I think you should consider to buy one already made.
They are extremely cheap and you will save your time for more useful things.

I use one from digitus (www.digitus.de) and I'm really satisfied with it

Try Prolific USB to RS232 IC

I had tried the FTDI Chip and Prolific PL2303 ,

I think PL2303 much more better than FTDI (FT245BM , FT232BM),

it cheaper and easy to use , smaller size , much more easy to install the software.

PL2303 is the best choice for me, so try PL2303, you will like it.....

Do you know where to find application notes or sample schematics for Prolific PL2303?

Is it possible to order samples of the PL2303?

Where can I buy this device whithin the EU?

There is a RS232 level converter with inverters in your circuit. (SP213EH)

Does PL2303 work with inverted or non-inverted RS232 RXD and TXD signals?

It is described RI, DTR, RTS , CTS, DSR, CD signals are active-low but there is no information about RXD and TXD....

I am confused. Did you tested this schematic?

14 Oct 2003 9:20 pl2303 application note

I bought a data cable from a street seller for my cellular phone.

It is a little box with a power LED. There is a small two sided PCB in it and it includes 25cm USB cable and 30cm cable to phone with a special phone battery-holder and pin type connector. There is a Prolific PL2303 in it.

And it is only 3 USD without haggle... I belive I would buy it cheaper but I was amazed of the price.

I think it comes from Far East or somewhere like that...

Cygnal VCP device drivers are required for CP2101 device operation and are only distributed as part of the CP2101EK evaluation kit. Therefore, a CP2101EK kit should be ordered before or at the time of the initial order of CP2101 devices.

there is no mark on the cable and box... I think it is a third party product... I'll but three data cables more to desolder PL2303s and use in my board... I draw ccsheu's PCB with MAX213.

Hi .. is any one try TUSB3410 from texas instrument. I look at datasheet and it Demo board ,It looking good and it seem to be easy to build. They also provide firmware and software driver for it But i haven't try it yet. Is ahny one have experience with this chip?

when I use PL2303 simulate RS232,found the baud rate not exactitude equal the settings,the time shift over 10% of the setting.who knows which ic is better,because I need it debug my hardware.

Dear All;
I finally got the TUSB3410 thing working, it now successfully enumerates as a CDC, but there is another problem: when the USB COMM port is open and in use by an application, and the USB device gets disconnected, USBSER.SYS hangs, and when the device is reconnected, the COMM port cannot be opened... has anyone encountered this problem? any solutions?
