I`m looking for a low cost (less than 1000$) F P G A dev. board of 500k-1M gates. Although I prefer A | t e r a, I don`t mind vendor.
Do you know where to find such board?

the dev. board contains a xilinx spartan2 200k gate fpga at a cost of ~$120. seems like a good deal.

try ******* kit for about 400 euro.
it was 1000 dollar before. ****** is going to push nios, so they are doing akind of sell out.

You can try out Xilinx FPGAs. There is a development board available from Xess corporation for XC4005XL FPGA ( 3000+ gates)
names XS40 board. It is available for ~120$.
