That's my site (hi everyone!).

I was to busy with other things for several months, but recently I've started work on the DSO project again. Also on some other projects and a new website (which is why I haven't updated the old one at all).

I just gave the URL for the new site (not actually ready yet) to "lighty", so I guess I might as well post it here as well.

http://beta.area26.no-ip.org/

There is some new info there, but not a lot (yet).

Now I really have to go study, but I will do a lot more soldering and programming after my exams Smile

@cyr

Welcome to the EDAboard (aka Elektroda) the best site for electronics!
I think you will like it here... Cool

BTW- do you have any more specs for your new version of DSO? I looked at the specs of your previous one and it seemed to be in advanced stage of development both hardware as well as software.

Now if your project could be taken as a basis on which to build more advanced model it would be great because it would give a great boost to the current projects mentioned in this thread that are in more immature stage of develpment. It is of course my private wish only and maybe something that cannot be easily done. Wink

Why you use ethernet controller, instead of USB?

Mainly because my laptop has 54Mbps WLAN but no USB2.0 Smile

I prefer to plug the scope permanently into my LAN and then have access to it from any computer, and wirelessly. No special device drivers are needed either.

Even so, since I have the ethernet controller on a separate board it wouldn't take all that much work to replace it with some USB2.0 chip if I should change my mind.

to TOTO2001.
I can advice you to look on DASP technology, for this project. Somethere i read that guy cover 1.2GHz bandwith with 80MS/s ADC. Not sure about, but somthere it was.
If u are interested in it i can help a little bit in signal processig field.
Main idea is quite simple, make readings, with frequency smaller than it is needed according to nyquist criteria. But time between readings is randomized.

Post07 Feb 2005 21:40   Re: Digital oscilloscope Project

I think you should have a memory buffer before the pci-bus to maintain constant sample-rate, then the pci-speed doesn't matter much. The probe-inputs is a part of the difficult analog part, take a look at some of the links in this thread...

Hi guys,
Sorry for the inconvenience, my website is down since January. I thought that at least the projects pages were up, but no. Then I'll work on it right now. Wait two or three days.

Ok, the site is (quite) up now. You have to go to :
http://www.soudez.be/site.php
Then choose your langage and then select the project at the left.

hi guys,
what do u think if i want to do a pci card for that project without a ram or memory capability.i mean just viewin it right at that time is possible or do u think it will cause crashes?anyone has experience?
and please give me a link to make an example pci card design and bus interfacing (i mean addressing with logic gates)guide site.

Post25 Sep 2005 2:13   Re: Digital oscilloscope Project

Hi I am new to this site. I really like this project and will be trying it in the future. Right now my 4 channel scope is destroyed. I am looking to build a new one. I really like Colin's project(at the link below) with 4 channel scope but I can't write code. I have not been able to find anyone that can write code. Does anyone know any other scopes that are 4 chanel that I can make? Has anyone made a 4 channel or has completed this scope? http://www.mccord.plus.com/FYP/DownLoad/Final_Report.pdf

Any help woud be appreciated.
Thank you!

Anyway to produce DSO besides using FPGA? I guess many of us do not have access to that facility. Microcontroller will be a good choice. Anyone tried wit PIC18F4550?

Post01 Oct 2005 15:35   Digital oscilloscope Project

I've built years ago a demo board to see how far can I go with the sampling freq. If I remember corectly, the highest sample rate was 10Msps, with a Scenix MCU running at 100MHz. The acq. code was simply a huge worm of set and clear signals, along with store instructions, in order to achieve the highest sample rate, I couldn't afford any kind of loop mechanism. But if you want some real performance out of the DSO, I think there is no other way besides FPGAs.

I wonder that if fs is very high like 500Msps, how FPGA can control the buffer?

I also going to do a digital oscilloscope in my school project. I am uiding @ltera nios board,, as i know the frequecy rate of the board is about 33.33Mhz. Then actually how is the best sample frequecy of ADC? It should match the board frequecny or can be lower?
