Hi,

I built this http://www.hw.cz/constrc/lc_metr/ LC meter. Now I need to calibrate it. So the question is not about calibration, but about coil used in LC meters. What kind of coils are you using? Do you wind it manualy or you use factory made coils? For the test I use the 150 uH choke (small green like resistor). I'm not sure could I use it?

You can use it...
but:
if you use L with high serial resistance, you will lose accuracy on higher capacitors (e.g. 100n and up, which have not good Q - paper, and some plastic).

You will find a project for LCF Meter using PIC16F628
This meter measure

L 1uH 10H
C 1pF 6500uF
F 0.05HZ 5MHZ

The design depends on the NAND CMOS gates to construct the oscillator.

I built the LC meter, form EPE feb 2004 issue. It's a simple circuit, but by the C meter part , you need to modify the value of the 10k 1% resistor.... Simple use a 20k, and compensate it from the software... When I used the 10k resistor, the oscillator wan't to start... The compensation is easy to made. Turn on the circuit, and press the nulling button...

I tested it from 1pF !!! up to 4700uF--->> No problems!

I built this. It measure from 0,1 pF to ~3 uF. I used capasitor ~1000 nF and added trimer 5-30 pF. After calibration using capasitor measured on factory meter, I have ~1% accuracy.

But it's not working properly
if anybody have made it successfully , kindly provide me the info
Does it measure Capacitance as well as inductance accurately ?

One of the best LC meter I had seen on the net[as precision] is from Russia.On this page is placed as www.cqham.ru/lcmeter3.htm .To understand the text must go to www.translate.ru/eng/ .They have free on line translator for web pages.The only things that are to be made-select "translate WWW',select "translate Russian to English' and finally to introduce the above adress[www.cqham.ru/lcmeter3.htm ].There is an limitation-the translated page cannot be saved!Now a version of Hex file for Pic16F628[as substitute for Pic16f84] is available at http://Andylab.narod.ru.
